The second picture shows the foyer of the communication center, which will be the main spot of our conference. Keynotes and some plenary sessions will take place at the audience hall, which is designed for 280 people. Furthermore, all presentations in the main hall can be transferred to a communication room offering space for additional 80 people.

Please note that the main building of DKFZ only provides very limited parking facilities. Please make use of public parking and university car parks in Neuenheimer Feld or, preferably,take public transport.

How to reach Heidelberg

Germany’s biggest and most important international airport is also the nearest to Heidelberg: Frankfurt Airport. It is around 80 Kilometer distance and can be reached in less than one hour. There are many services offered to get to Heidelberg from Frankfurt Airport: by train, bus or e.g. the Lufthansa Airport Shuttle.

There is also the possibility to fly to the near Airport of Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. The Airport of Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe-Baden) is around 90 Kilometers away, and serviced by Ryanair, Air Berlin and Intersky. The Airport of Stuttgart is around 125 Kilometer away and can be reached within 1 hour and 15 minutes by car. There are also regular trains to Heidelberg. Additionally, the Airport of Saarbrücker is also convenient as the distance is around 150 Kilometer and offers also a train connection.

Transportation to Heidelberg

Heidelberg is located in the Rhein-Neckar region, about 100 km south of Frankfurt/Main. The nearest international airports are Frankfurt and Stuttgart and from each there are frequent trains to Heidelberg. The train ride from Frankfurt airport to Heidelberg takes about one hour and may involve changing trains either at the main station in Frankfurt or in Mannheim. A one-way ticket costs approximately € 25.

It is also possible to take the Lufthansa Airport Shuttle from Frankfurt airport to Heidelberg.
The bus route terminates at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Kurfürstenanlage. A single ticket costs €24 and is payable to the driver in cash.
Buses run every hour between 7:00 am and 10:15 pm and can be found right across from the Frankfurt Airport Meeting Point in Terminal 1, Hall B, Exit B 4. Seats can only be guaranteed if you reserve three days prior to your arrival. The exact bus schedule and information on reservation procedures are available at: www.frankfurt-airport-shuttles.de.

Perhaps the most convenient way to get to Heidelberg is to order a shuttle mini bus run by the company TLS. A staff member of TLS picks you up at the airport and takes you to Heidelberg.
